Stacy Feyer-Salo- Food and still life photographer- Grand Rapids

About Stacy

Hi, I’m Stacy! I’m a food, beverage, and still life photographer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Everything I do is centered around the belief that excellent, beautiful food is an art form. The way I honor this form of art is by telling compelling visual stories about food that are bold, imaginative, and magnetic. And, I just happen to take great photos.

In 2003 a trip to Italy and a piece of brined veal stuffed with rosemary sparked my romance with food stories. Today I help businesses’ tell their food stories to grow a romance between their product and their patron.

Soon after my adventures in Europe I enrolled in culinary arts school and worked as a private chef for 6 years in both Toronto and Grand Rapids.  After starting a food blog, it was photographing food that really gave me creative fulfillment. That’s when I started Pop Kitchen Studio.

I’ve always been up for a culinary adventure and the same goes with my photography. When I photograph food I get obsessed with drawing out emotions that build connection and catch people’s eye.

When I’m not shooting food I am hanging with my family, hiking (looking for birds), and traveling around the gorgeous state of Michigan.

Working with me

Here is a little taste of my process. After hearing from you I will send you a short questionnaire, after which we’ll book a call to hash out the details of your project together. Just like with every great story/movie/play, the storyboard is the key to a successful plot line. When we work together I do visual research and develop a mood board based on the concept of the story you want told. Once we are on the same page, I craft all the details. From sourcing props or building sets, to styling, to finally photographing and post-production of the images. Every tiny part is a conscious, creative choice.

I work solo out of my home studio, in a local large studio setting, as well as wherever you need me on location.
